The things around your neck are the advantage you refuse to take, the advent of technology you demonize, the knowledge you despise, the light you shrink from.
The things around your neck are the customs you abhor but fit into because you want to belong to a particular cliché. The things your stomach churns at but you must take so that you will be the people's person.
The things around your neck are the people your mind made judges over you, people you feel are better off so they must checkmate your own life, and even if you know you are being taken advantage off, you let it slide.
They are the pains you chose to feel.
They are the shackles you would rather remained bound in
They are the freedom you turned your back on, scared to your bones.
They are the voices in your mind left unvoiced.
Like the necklaces and neck bands, these things will remain for as long as you want them to be!
