THE OGENE OF ENUGU

The Ogene of the Enugu people.

Beats that stirs the spirit of unity, merriment and dance.
It's the spirit of the fathers, the spirit of nku, and nkwobi, the feet cannot help but move,  the heads cannot help but nods. 

The Ogene calls for merriment
Bakota ndi ebe anyi
K'anyi nwo mmanya

Bakota k'anyi gba egwu.

It's the spirit that causes us to hit our chest
drumming the drums of the ancestors
Our bodies portrays the expression
of unity peace and brotherhood. 

Umunna e kele m unu oooooo
umu afo na umu ala.
Let's dance the dance of ogene
Let the gong talk to us. 

Ana m'anu, ku zie Okwu.
Let's dance and sing the song of ogene.

Obianuju n'oro nwanne bianu laba
Obianuju n'oro biazie kanyi la.
E lezie n'elekere iga wu six akuzila
six akuwala kanyi gazie n'ulo akukwo..... 

Let our heart plays the beat of ogene
As our feet dance the dance of ogene
and our mouth sing the song of ogene
as we unite, umu afor n'ile, as we merry.
